The centrifugation process reduces the non-rubber content down to 1.8 to 1.5% of which the bulk (approximately 1%) is protein. The protein content is reduced by up to 50% by a single pass through the centrifuge. It is uneconomical to repeat this process to reduce the protein levels further.
