Rubber latex is a protective fluid contained in the tissue beneath the bark of the rubber tree,Hevea brasiliensis-that orginated from Brazil(hence its botanical name).By 1890,the British had introduced rubber plantations in Malaysia for harvesting latex.The cloudy white liquid,is collected by cutting a a thin strip of bark from the rubber tree and allowing the latex to drip into a collecting bowl over a period of few hours.The British are credited to have introduced the rubber plant in India too.Leading automobiles like FORD,VOLSWAGEN,BMW,GM,PORSCHE,LONDON TAXI and AUDI utilize anywhere between 200 to 250 rubber parts.
